Why Mindsite?

Hi, I’m KaryAnn - owner and counselor here at Mindsite! I’m excited you’re here and can’t wait to tell you about what Mindsite is all about! One thing about me…I’m a sucker for cheesy puns, clichés, and witty phrases. One phase in particular has found its way into my mind more than most happens to be “Hindsight is 2020.”

Why am I telling you this…? Well, my friend - I’m glad you asked!

Hindsight is defined as “the ability to understand an event or situation only after it has happened.”

Twenty-twenty (20/20) originally stems from an optical team that is used to express or measure clarity or sharpness of vision measured at a distance of 20 feet.

Today though, hearing “2020”, can also strike up memories of the year that changed the world. It may even be ironic to say that the year that was destined to be about perfect vision was anything but perfect and it was hard to make any sense out of the what we were seeing throughout the world. I would argue it changed they way we all saw just about everything and provided more chaos and confusion instead of any degree of clarity.

The year 2020 was as confusing and uncertain for me as anyone. But now, IN HINDSIGHT, I see how that year changed my life more than I realized. Despite isolation and uncertainty, God was able to spark the vision and purpose in me that started my journey to a career and mission to serve in the field of mental health care. Through the most unlikely circumstance, I believe the Lord molded and clarified my vision of myself and His purpose for me to love Him and love others through mental health counseling. Fast-forward three years, two and a half years of training, one master’s degree, and one state license - this vision He gave me which started in the chaos of 2020 has led me to create this place of clarity for the purpose of healing that I now call, MindSite Counseling.

Now, my own cheesy play on words might make a little more sense: “MINDSITE 2020”
